Medal for Participation in Humanitarian or Peacekeeping Operations
The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski on 28 July 2023 passed a decree regulating the design of the Medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations outside the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The author of the design is Kosta Stamatovski.
The medal features a stylized 16-pointed star with strongly rounded points on which are placed rays, a globe and a stylized olive branch.
The medal ribbon and the ribbon bar are complementary to the ribbons of the other medals and orders, and are differentiated by insertion of the blue colour.
The medal was established in 2012, but was first awarded to members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia on 18 August 2023, Army Day.
The medal is awarded to the members of the security forces of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as to the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia engaged in activities in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations outside the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The medal is awarded for every participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations, namely:
• first participation – medal with clear medal ribbon and ribbon bar;
• second participation – medal with a bronze star in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar;
• third participation – medal with a bronze star and number 1 in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar;
• fourth participation – medal with a silver star in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar;
• fifth participation – medal with a silver star and number 1 in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar;
• sixth participation – a medal with a gold star in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar and
• for participation in each subsequent mission – a medal with a gold star and a consecutive number in the middle of the medal ribbon and ribbon bar.
