The president of VMRO-DPMNE, Mr Nikola Gruevski on 9.4.2016, the day of the canonization of St. Mother Teresa, took an initiative for adoption of a law for the establishment of an international Order of Merit “Mother Teresa“.

The order would be awarded to outstanding women of the world with special and extraordinary achievements in various fields, especially in areas such as philanthropy, humanism, helping very sick and very poor people with personal sacrifice or risk, and which achieved various accomplishments through various activities for peace, humanity etc.

The idea is the order to be awarded by an single domestic and international board in which every Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia will necessarily participate, as well as other figures from the Republic of Macedonia and prominent high-renowned figures from different countries and areas worldwide.

The act of awarding of this order would be an affirmation of life and work of St. Mother Teresa, but also a strong affirmation of the Republic of Macedonia.
