New Zealand is one of the five remaining Commonwealth countries who still have a flag with the Union Jack in the canton.

But, the Government and the people of New Zealand decided that time has come to replace it with a new one, which will reflect their identity and the character of the nation more.

From 10.292 received proposals the government selected 40 to go further in the flag change process. Then, 4 of them will be chosen and than ranked in a binding referendum in December 2015.
