Security forces decorated with Order of Military Merit and Medal of Bravery
The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr Gjorge Ivanov decorated the Special Tasks Unit and the Rapid Deployment Unit of the Ministry of Interior with Order of Military Merit. Also, eight members of the security forces killed on May 9th 2015 in an anti-terrorist operation in Kumanovo were decorated posthumously with Medal of Bravery.
The units for special tasks and rapid deployment were decorated for special merits and exceptional contribution to the preservation of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as strengthening the national security and safety of the Macedonian citizens.
Ljubisha Arandjelovic, Boban Ivanovic, Goran Ilijevski, Zarko Kuzmanovski, Isamedin Osmani, Sasho Samojlovski, Nenad Serafimovski and Goran Stojmenovic were decorated for demonstrating exceptional courage and self-sacrifice in defense of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Macedonia, killed as security forces of the Ministry of Interior.
The Order of Military Merit is awarded to members of the security forces of the Republic of Macedonia for the successes they achieve in the field.
The Medal of Bravery is awarded to members of the security forces of the Republic of Macedonia for expressed personal courage and self-sacrifice in defense, or protection of human lives and material goods in dangerous situations.
