Members of the Army decorated with Medal for Bravery and Medal for Participation in Humanitarian or Peacekeeping Operations

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski decorated members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia with the Medal for Bravery and the Medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations.

Sixty members of the Army were decorated with the Medal for Bravery for their superhuman efforts as members of the Army team that was among the first foreign contingents to arrive to help after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey in February 2023.

Thirteen members of the Army were decorated with the Medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations as the first Macedonian peacekeepers in Afghanistan, which marked the beginning of our engagement and contribution to international peace and security on 8 September, 2002.

This is the first awarding of the Medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations, after the recent presidential decree on the design of the medal.

Medal for Bravery is awarded to members of the security forces of the Republic of North Macedonia for demonstrated personal courage and self-sacrifice in the field of defense, or in the protection of human lives or material goods in dangerous situations.

Medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations is awarded to members of the security forces, as well as to citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia engaged in activities in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations outside the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
